The Highland Park 50 Year Old 2020 Release is one of the most exclusive single malt Scotch whiskies ever produced by the renowned Orkney distillery. As only the third 50-year-old expression released in more than 220 years of Highland Park’s history, this limited edition reflects exceptional craftsmanship, patience, and tradition.
Crafted Through Decades of Maturation
To create this extraordinary whisky, Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion carefully selected nine refill casks originally filled in 1968. These casks were married together in 2008 before being transferred into first-fill sherry-seasoned oak casks, where they matured for another 12 years.
In 2020, Gordon Motion chose a single European oak sherry butt and used Highland Park’s traditional solera process to marry it with a portion of the 2018 release. That whisky had previously been blended with the 2010 release, creating a continuous legacy that adds remarkable depth and character to every bottle.
Rich Aroma and Complex Flavor
Bottled at its natural color and 43.8% ABV, the Highland Park 50 Year Old 2020 Release offers an elegant and layered tasting experience. The nose opens with ripe black cherries, Muscovado sugar, peaches, rich dark chocolate, soft leather, and delicate peat smoke.
